This week, I made these cute crochet pumpkin favors for our Hook and Sip event in Aurora. I always like to take a small, fun party favor to our Crafty Girl events. With the turning of the leaves and the beginning of fall this week, these pumpkin clips and treat cards were perfect!
The cute little cards are from 12″ x12″ scrap book paper by American Crafts at my local JoAnn’s store. I simply cut out each square with my paper cutter and clipped them to a small plastic bag filled with some favorite candy in cute fall packaging with this fun crochet pumpkin clip.
The pumpkin clip was quick and easy to make. Crocheters who are comfortable with basic stitches and working in the round will be able to whip these up in no time. Here’s how the clips were made:
- Scraps of orange cotton yarn (I used the I Love This Cotton Yarn from Hobby Lobby in a color called “Glowing.”)
- Size G crochet hook
- Scraps of green cotton yarn for the stem (I had this yarn on hand and had lost the label a long time ago!)
- Mini Clothes Pins
Ch 3 and sl st to 1st ch to form a loop with orange yarn.
Round 1: Ch 2, 9 Hdc in center of loop. Sl st to top of ch 2 post.
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st stitch. Sc, hdc in next stitch. 2 dc in next st. 2 sc in next st. 2 dc in next st. hdc and sc in next st. 2 sc in next two sts. Sc in top st. Sc in next st and sl st to top of ch 1 post. Fasten off orange yarn and weave in tails.
Green Stem: Fasten on yarn at top of pumpkin. Ch 3, sc in 2nd st from hook. Sl st in same stitch you fastened on. Fasten off and weave in tails. Hot glue pumpkin onto clothes pin.
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half-double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- sl st – slip stitch
Warning! Making these pumpkin clips may be addicting! Maybe even more so than the Hershey’s caramel apple chocolates I added to the treat bags 🙂 I hope you have as much fun as I did making these cute clips!
