Let the Crafty Adventures Begin!

When my daughter started her freshman year in high school this past year, my husband and I advised her to find a club or two to get to know others and get acquainted with the school. We told her one of the best things she could do to adjust to this new chapter in her life was to find a group.

This made me think of my own experience as a kid and the groups I belonged to. I was a 4-Her, clarinet player in the high school band, and member of the school newspaper. I remember how much those clubs and activities helped me have some of the best experiences and friends I’ve ever had.

Fast forward to where I’m at in my life now as a wife and mother with a full-time career and I get a bit nostalgic about those days with my friends, having fun and learning. Over the past few years, I haven’t had much time to belong to a club or even explore some of the projects and ideas I’ve wanted to. Like many parents, I’ve been busy with raising and supporting my family. That’s left little time for activities on my own outside of our family time. I do enjoy our family time, but have found I also treasure those times when I’m on my own with other friends exploring a new restaurant, shop, and making a new craft project.

As my daughter gets older and more independent, I’m finding I have more time to devote back to myself. I’ve opted to use this time finally revisit those ideas or those places I’ve longed to explore. I’ve been a life long crafter so the adventures I want to have center around crafting. I love to sew, quilt, knit, crochet, and try just about anything crafty. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one feeling this way, so I’m starting Crafty Girl Adventures to invite others along on crafty adventures and encourage them to create their own.

What exactly is Crafty Girl Adventures? Think of it as club for adults focused around crafting and making. It’s my dream to grow this idea to build a creative tribe where we all share ideas and projects about what inspires us. I’ll start by sharing the classes, venues, and activities that inspire me and work on opportunities for us to connect both in person and online.

I invite you to join me on this journey. It doesn’t matter if you live in Denver or afar. I think we all have some great ideas and experiences that can inspire others. So, let’s go! Let’s have an adventure!
